How Laser Engraving Works
Submit Your Design
Provide text, logo file (vector preferred), or reference images. We create digital mockup showing exact placement, size, and font for your approval before engraving.
Ship Your Slide
Disassemble pistol, ship slide only (USPS Legal—no FFL required). We provide prepaid return shipping label. Fully insured both ways.
Laser Etching
Slide cleaned and fixtured. Fiber laser etches design at controlled depth. Multiple passes build contrast and depth for complex designs. Post-engraving surface cleaned.
Optional: Fill & Cerakote
Engraved areas can be contrast-filled with Cerakote for enhanced visibility (white, red, gold common). Or apply full slide Cerakote with engraving preserved.
Quality Check & Return Ship
Visual inspection verifies engraving matches approved mockup. No stray marks, clean edges, proper depth. Ships back via USPS Priority with tracking.

Serial Numbers & IDs
Agency property numbers, department IDs, trust serial numbers, or asset tags. Machine-readable fonts available. Standardized placement for fleet uniformity.
Intricate Artwork
Custom illustrations, tribal patterns, geometric designs, or photorealistic images. Halftone shading creates depth. Multi-pass engraving builds contrast.
Commemorative Text

Laser System
50W fiber laser with 0.001" spot size. Wavelength optimized for steel, aluminum, and stainless. Adjustable power/speed for depth control.
Engraving Depth
0.002" to 0.010" depth range. Shallow engraving for fine detail. Deeper engraving for high contrast and tactile feel. Never exceeds structural limits.
Resolution & Detail
1200 DPI equivalent resolution. Reproduces fine details, sharp corners, and smooth curves. Minimum line width: 0.005". Maximum detail limited only by slide material.
Material Compatibility
Steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and polymer (limited). Best results on matte or bead-blasted finishes. Polished finishes may show ghosting.

Design Best Practices
Bold, Simple Designs
Thick lines and negative space reproduce better than fine details at small sizes.
High Contrast
Black/white artwork converts cleanly. Avoid gradients unless halftone shading is intentional.
Size Appropriately
Minimum recommended text size: 8pt. Minimum logo width: 0.25". We'll confirm sizing in mockup.
Consider Placement
Top of slide most visible. Sides require slide removal to view. Avoid areas near barrel or extractor.
